Alejandra Ojeda de Ipsos: “Un tercio del país cree que tanto migración legal como ilegal está conectada con la crisis de seguridad pública. Eso es un riesgo”

I read this really interesting article about a survey that Ipsos did on the connection between migration and public security, and it was pretty eye-opening. Apparently, a third of the people surveyed in Mexico believe that both legal and illegal migration are related to the country’s security crisis. Can you believe it? That’s a pretty risky assumption to make.

I think part of the problem may be that people don’t really understand the complexities of migration, particularly when it comes to economic and social factors. From my own experience, I’ve seen how migration can have both positive and negative effects on a community. On one hand, it can bring in new ideas, cultures, and perspectives that enrich the local culture. On the other hand, it can strain resources, create cultural clashes, and exacerbate existing social inequalities.

Despite the challenges, I still believe that migration is an important issue that deserves more attention and understanding. We need to recognize that migration is not just a problem to be solved, but an opportunity to be embraced. By working together to create more inclusive and equitable societies, we can help ensure that everyone has the chance to thrive.
