I came across an interesting article titled, “¿Caja pagadora?: Gobierno entregó 3 mil millones a fundaciones pro Boric en la región de Antofagasta”. Apparently, the Chilean government has transferred over $3 billion Chilean pesos to organizations in support of presidential candidate Gabriel Boric in the region of Antofagasta. The funds were intended to serve as aid for cultural and social projects, but some are questioning the true purpose of the funding.
The organizations that received the money are known to be supporters of Boric and some have even called this a form of bribery just weeks away from the elections. Moreover, the timing of the donations has raised eyebrows. In the midst of a pandemic and economic crisis, many are questioning whether it was ethical to transfer funds in such a manner.
Considering this article, it’s important to note that politics and public funding can be a tricky combination. Even if the intentions behind these funds were positive, it’s clear there’s a great deal of suspicion amongst the general public. These funds may have a significant impact on the upcoming elections, and it will be interesting to see how events unfold in the weeks ahead.
