Campillai explica solicitud de desafuero a Cordero por injurias graves

So, I just read this article titled “Campillai explica solicitud de desafuero a Cordero por injurias graves” and it’s pretty interesting. Basically, there’s been a request to strip a Chilean senator, Ignacio Cordero, of his immunity for making some seriously insulting remarks towards a woman who was left blind and severely injured during a protest in 2019.

The woman, Franscica Campillai, was hit in the face by a tear gas canister that was allegedly fired by police officers. Since then, she has become an activist for people who were victims of police brutality. Anyway, Cordero apparently made some comments that implied that she was somehow responsible for her own injuries or that she was exaggerating the extent of her injuries.

What I found interesting about this article is that it’s yet another example of how women who speak out about injustice often face backlash, harassment, or victim-blaming. It takes a lot of bravery to stand up and demand accountability, especially when you are dealing with powerful institutions or individuals.

As for the request to strip Cordero of his immunity, I think it’s a positive step. It sends a message that no one is above the law and that elected officials have a responsibility to represent and protect their constituents, not insult or belittle them.

Overall, I think this article highlights the importance of speaking out against injustice and holding those in power accountable. It’s not always easy, but it’s crucial for creating a more just and equitable society.
