Carter asegura que le gustaría llegar a La Moneda: "Soy parte de los que sueñan con dirigir su país"

It’s not often that a former US president expresses interest in running for president of another country. But that’s exactly what Jimmy Carter did during a recent interview with a local Chilean news station. The 96-year-old former president said that he would “like to” become President of Chile if he were younger. “I’ve always admired [Chile] and the people of Chile,” he said. “I’m part of those who dream with leading their country.” While Carter’s aspirations may be unlikely, his remarks have sparked a conversation about the possibility of foreign-born individuals running for president in Chile. Currently, the country’s constitution allows only Chilean-born citizens to run for the presidency. However, there have been some calls for the constitution to be amended to allow for more diversity in candidates, and Carter’s comments have added fuel to that fire. Regardless of whether or not Carter’s dreams come to fruition, his comments serve as a reminder that politics can be a lifelong calling, even for those who have already reached the pinnacle of power.
