I was reading this interesting article titled “Carter y sumario en Fiscalía: ‘Señor Boric los enemigos son los narcos, no somos nosotros’” about a heated exchange between a politician and the justice system. Basically, Chilean MP Gabriel Boric was ranting on Twitter about how corrupt prosecutors were trying to bring down his party, but the Attorney General’s Office fired back saying that their real enemies were drug traffickers, not politicians.
To me, this just highlights the ongoing tension between politicians and the justice system, where everyone wants to play the victim and blame someone else for their problems. But the truth is, drug trafficking is a huge problem in Chile and Latin America as a whole, and everyone should be working together to combat it instead of pointing fingers.
I think it’s important to remember that the justice system is not perfect, and there are certainly cases of corruption and abuse of power that need to be addressed. But we also can’t ignore the very real threat of organized crime and the harm it does to our communities. In the end, we need to find ways to hold both politicians and prosecutors accountable for their actions, and work towards building a safer and more just society for everyone.
