Comisión de Seguridad aprobó tipificar como delito la migración ilegal, sólo el PC y el Frente Amplio votaron en contra ya que no superan su Octubrismo

So, I came across this article about the Comisión de Seguridad approving the categorization of illegal migration as a crime in Chile. Apparently, the only ones who voted against it were the PC and Frente Amplio, because of Octubrismo, whatever that means.

Basically, this means that if someone is caught trying to enter or leave the country illegally, they could face criminal charges. And it makes sense, right? I mean, we all have to follow the law, even if we don’t always agree with it.

But I can see how some people might not agree with this decision. Maybe they think that people should have the right to move freely around the world, especially if they’re fleeing poverty or danger in their own countries. Or maybe they think that there are already too many laws and regulations in our society, and we don’t need one more.

Personally, I think it’s important to have some kind of control over who comes into our country and why. We need to protect our borders, and prevent criminals or terrorists from entering. At the same time, we should also be compassionate and understanding towards those who are struggling in their own countries, and provide them with the support and resources they need to build a better life.

Overall, I think this decision by the Comisión de Seguridad is a significant one, and it signals a shift in how we view migration as a society. Whether we agree or disagree with it, it’s important to be aware of the changes happening around us, and to actively engage in the conversation. Who knows? Maybe someday we’ll be the ones voting on legislation like this.
