El Frente Amplio planteó que se declare feriado por este año el 20 de mayo y el 30 de noviembre

So, I came across this interesting article today about the Frente Amplio proposing the declaration of two additional holidays in Uruguay this year. They suggested making May 20th and November 30th national holidays.

Basically, the idea behind this proposal is to recognize the historical significance of these dates and honor the contributions of the people involved in shaping the country’s culture and values. May 20th marks the birth anniversary of the famous writer, educator, and social activist, José Artigas. On the other hand, November 30th is celebrated as Non-Violence Day in remembrance of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the legendary Indian leader who advocated for peaceful protests and social justice.

To be honest, I believe that honoring these historic figures and their achievements by adding two more holidays to the calendar seems like a pretty good idea to me. Besides, it’ll give a much-needed break to the hard-working folks of Uruguay.

But before you rush to book your tickets to Uruguay, let me tell you that this proposal is still under discussion, and it may take some time for it to become a reality. However, I hope that the government seriously considers this proposal and takes steps to recognize these prominent cultural icons who have left a lasting impact on society.
