So, I read this super interesting article titled “El papá que te tocó”, which talks about something that I think we often avoid discussing - mental health. The article discusses how JP Cretton, a Chilean filmmaker, told his 8-year-old daughter about his struggles with depression, and how he wanted her to know that it was okay to feel sad sometimes.
Basically, the main point of the article is that it’s important to be open and honest with our kids about mental health issues, instead of trying to shield them from it or pretending like everything is always sunshine and rainbows. I think this is especially relevant now, considering the pandemic and how much it’s impacted people’s mental health.
I remember when I was a kid, mental health was something that was never really talked about. It was almost like it was taboo, or something to be ashamed of. But now, thankfully, people are starting to have more open discussions about it, and I think that’s really important.
Anyway, I just thought this article was really eye-opening and worth sharing. It’s not just about JP Cretton and his daughter, but about all of us, and how we can change the conversation around mental health. So, if you get a chance, definitely give it a read!
