El seguro por covid que quedó amarrado a las empresas en Chile pese a la vuelta a la normalidad

So, I came across this article that talks about how COVID insurance policies are still tied to companies in Chile, even though things are starting to go back to normal there. It’s such an interesting read because it really makes you think about how employers are responsible for their employees’ health.

Basically, the article explains that in Chile, the government mandated that companies must include COVID insurance in their employee benefits. The idea was to make sure that everyone would have access to medical help if they were to contract the virus. But here’s the thing - even though things are starting to calm down, companies can’t cancel the policy until their contract is up. So essentially, everyone who’s employed at a company in Chile is still covered by this insurance policy, whether they want to be or not.

Personally, I think it’s important to make sure that everyone has access to health care, especially during a pandemic. But it seems kind of odd to me that the responsibility falls solely on the employers. I mean, what if you work for a small company that can’t afford to offer good medical benefits? Shouldn’t the government step in and help out?

All in all, this article really highlights the complexity of the COVID situation. It’s interesting to think about how different countries are handling the virus and what their priorities are. If anything, it’s a reminder that healthcare is a tricky issue, and there’s always more work that needs to be done to make sure everyone is taken care of.
