Basically, this article is an interview with Gonzalo Blumel, and he talks about how he expected the leftist parties to learn from the crisis in 1973, but instead they got swept up in the idea of overthrowing President Piñera during the social outbreak.

Blumel points out that back in ‘73, many on the left wanted to bring down the government because they believed it was repressive and contributed to the crisis. However, in the recent social uprising, he thinks they were just looking for an excuse to take down Piñera, regardless of the actual issues at hand.

Now, I totally get where Blumel is coming from. It’s like when you make a mistake and learn from it, hoping other people would do the same in similar situations. But then they turn around and do the exact same thing you did, even though it doesn’t really make sense anymore. It’s kind of frustrating, to be honest.

But let’s dig deeper into this. Blumel also highlights the role of social media in fueling the unrest and creating this “seduction” around bringing down Piñera. He believes that the narrative on social media became more important than the actual problems that needed to be addressed. And you know what? I couldn’t agree more.

Social media has become this powerful tool that can easily manipulate our opinions and fuel this kind of mob mentality. People get so caught up in the hype and forget to really analyze the situation or consider the implications of their actions. It’s like we’re living in a world where appearances matter more than substance, you know what I mean?

To sum it all up, this article sheds light on how the center-left parties in Chile got caught up in the idea of overthrowing President Piñera during the social outbreak, without really addressing the underlying issues. It also highlights the role of social media in shaping public opinion and diverting attention away from the real problems. It’s a thought-provoking read that makes you question the dynamics of politics in today’s social media-driven world.
