La mejor noticia para el futbol chileno

Are you a fan of Chilean soccer? Then you’ll be glad to hear that the National Professional Football Association (ANFP) has announced the return of in-person soccer games starting on August 30th, 2021.

According to La Tercera, the decision to reopen soccer games with spectators was made possible thanks to the declining numbers of Covid-19 cases throughout the country and the positive vaccination rate.

Fans will need to follow safety protocols, including the use of face masks, and only be allowed to fill 30 percent of the stadium capacity. Nonetheless, this news is a positive step forward towards normalcy and a great boost to Chilean soccer, which has been in turmoil since the social unrest started in October 2019.

Moreover, the ANFP also announced that the National Championship will undergo a structural change in 2022. The tournament will be divided into two phases, a first round-robin of 15 games, and three groups of five teams in the second phase. The top two teams of each group will advance to a final playoff.

Overall, this decision comes as a crucial relief for Chilean soccer fans who have eagerly awaited the return of in-person games. It is also an opportunity to stimulate the economy and support teams and players who have faced unprecedented challenges. With this announcement, Chilean soccer takes a steady step towards progress, and fans can enjoy the excitement of the sport once again.
