I just read an article about Chilean politician Evelyn Matthei criticizing the national medical college (Colmed) in a pretty sassy way. Matthei essentially said that if the subsecretary of health, who recently came under fire for controversial statements about COVID-19, were a conservative instead of a leftist, Colmed would be all over demanding his resignation.
Personally, I think it’s a classic case of political bias. It’s frustrating that people can’t hold everyone to the same standards, regardless of their political affiliation. But unfortunately, that’s how it goes most of the time.
Matthei’s comments have caused a stir and sparked lots of debate, especially since COVID-19 is such a contentious issue in Chile. It’s interesting to see how political biases can play into issues like this. But at the end of the day, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone should be held accountable for their actions, regardless of their political beliefs.
