Matthei llega a La Moneda a apoyar a general Yáñez tras citación del Gobierno: "Es el mundo al revés"

I read this article today about a crazy situation in Chile involving the former mayor of Santiago, Evelyn Matthei, supporting a general who was recently called out by the government for his controversial comments. It’s like the upside-down world!

Basically, General Guillermo Yáñez said some pretty insensitive things about the Mapuche indigenous people, and the government reprimanded him for it. But instead of apologizing or admitting fault, Yáñez decided to hold a public event where he was backed by Matthei and other right-wing politicians.

It’s crazy to see how divided the country is right now, especially when it comes to issues of race and discrimination. As someone who grew up in Chile, I know firsthand how deep these tensions run, and how difficult it can be to bridge the gap between different perspectives.

But at the same time, I’m encouraged to see people like Matthei speaking out and hopefully starting a dialogue that can lead to real change. It’s not going to be easy, but I believe it’s necessary if we want to build a better future for everyone.
