So, I came across this article titled “Medición confirma que los alcaldes Rodolfo Carter, Germán Codina y Evelyn Matthei son los ‘favoritos’ de la televisión y las radios” and it really caught my attention. Apparently, these three mayors are the most popular and frequently televised or interviewed political figures in Chile.
According to a measurement made by the media research company MediaScope, the mayors of La Florida, Providencia, and La Reina have the highest exposure levels on television and radio programs. Germán Codina, the mayor of Providencia, had the most mentions across different media platforms, with around 1,381 appearances in a year, while Rodolfo Carter, the mayor of La Florida, was the most visible in TV news programs. Meanwhile, Evelyn Matthei, the mayor of La Reina, was the most prominent on national radio stations.
It’s quite interesting to know who the most media-exposed political figures are, and it’s not surprising that these mayors are so popular since they are in charge of very large municipalities in Santiago. As a Chilean myself, I’ve noticed that they have been pretty active in implementing policies that cater to the needs of their communities.
I think that this measurement is not only important for the media outlets and the politicians themselves who may want to improve their exposure, but also for the general public. It gives us an idea of who the influential political figures are in our country, and who we might be hearing more from in the upcoming elections.
So, there you have it, the most popular mayors in Chilean media. Did any of them make it to your local news or radio recently?
