Ministra: La ley corta de isapres "no está pensada para una migración masiva a Fonasa"

I was reading an interesting article about the new law that regulates private health insurance companies in Chile, known as “isapres.” The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, stated that this law is not intended to encourage a massive migration from isapres to the public health insurance system, Fonasa.

Basically, the law seeks to impose new rules on isapres to ensure greater transparency and prevent discriminatory practices against patients with pre-existing conditions. It also aims to promote healthy competition among isapres to offer better benefits and services to their clients.

As a Chilean, I know firsthand the controversy surrounding the isapres system. Some people pay extremely high monthly premiums to receive top-notch medical care, while others are virtually excluded due to their medical history or age. This new law is an important step towards a fairer and more equal healthcare system for all.

Overall, this article highlights the ongoing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare in Chile, and shows that our government is working towards achieving greater equity and participation for all citizens. It’s a step in the right direction towards a more inclusive and just society.
