Minsal desestimó adelantar vacaciones de invierno y reiteró llamado a vacunarse contra la influenza

So, I just read this article about how the Ministry of Health in Chile decided not to move up winter school vacations, even though many schools were already requesting it due to the high number of influenza cases lately. Instead, they emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated against the flu.

Basically, the Ministry of Health considered that bringing forward the winter break wouldn’t necessarily reduce the number of flu cases, since people can get infected anytime, not just when they are in school. Therefore, their top priority is to encourage people to take advantage of the flu shot, which is free in public health centers.

To be honest, I’m not surprised by their decision, since I remember when I was in school and we had a week off for winter break, it didn’t necessarily mean we were going to stay home and avoid crowded places. On the contrary, many families took advantage of that time to travel or go out more, so it’s not like the risk of getting sick was completely eliminated.

I think it’s important to be aware of these kind of measures taken by the government, especially when it comes to public health. Many people tend to overlook the importance of getting vaccinated, and sometimes the consequences could be serious. So, if you haven’t done it yet, I recommend you to take some time to visit your nearest health center and get the flu shot. It’s quick, safe, and can be a life-saving measure, not only for you but for others around you.

In summary, the Chilean Ministry of Health chose not to advance winter school vacations as a way to prevent influenza, but instead, they urged people to get vaccinated, which is free in public health centers. It’s important to pay attention to these measures and take them seriously, because vaccination could be a significant way to decrease the spread of the virus. So, let’s get vaccinated and stay healthy, amigos!
