Manfred Jürgensen, a former Chilean intelligence agency (CNI) collaborator and apparently a doctor for the current President of Chile, Sebastian Piñera, has passed away. The circumstances around his death are yet to be confirmed. Jürgensen was known for his involvement in the murder of a leftist Chilean activist during Pinochet’s dictatorship, as well as being part of the CNI’s intelligence operations during the same period. He was also allegedly involved in illegal activities, such as drug trafficking and weapons smuggling, which resulted in his expulsion from the country. Jürgensen’s death has sparked renewed interest in Chile’s dark past, particularly during the Pinochet years. This news serves as a reminder of the atrocities committed in the name of political power and the urgent need to ensure justice for the victims and their families. While his passing may bring closure to some, it also raises new questions and concerns that need to be addressed.
