I just read an article about Pedro Pascal revealing that he only lent his voice to some episodes of The Mandalorian. He said it was a great experience, though! Personally, I find it fascinating when actors only provide their voice for a character in movies or TV shows. It’s like they have to fully embody the character, but without physical acting. In this case, Pascal apparently had a stunt double for the more action-packed scenes.
Anyway, the article explains that Pascal’s revelation was made in an interview with a Spanish radio show, and he also mentioned how he had to learn a whole new way of speaking for the role. According to him, it was even more important to convey emotion and intention through his voice alone. I imagine that must have been challenging, but clearly he pulled it off no problem.
I think this article sheds light on an aspect of acting that we don’t often think about. Even though it was just voice acting, Pascal’s work on The Mandalorian was still integral to bringing the character of Mando to life. And who knows, maybe it will inspire other actors to try their hand at voice acting!
