I just read an article about the “Super Mario Bros.” movie getting an extended version with an additional 30 minutes! Can you believe it? I had no idea they were still tinkering with that thing.
Anyway, the article says that the extended version will include “newly restored footage” and “never-before-seen deleted scenes.” Apparently, the film’s production designer, David L. Snyder, discovered some old tapes in his garage that contained footage that wasn’t in the original movie. Snyder and the film’s director, Rocky Morton, worked together to restore the clips and add them to the new version.
Another interesting tidbit is that the article speculates that this extended version could be a sign that a new “Super Mario Bros.” movie is in the works. Sony Pictures announced back in 2018 that they were working on an animated film based on the video game, but there hasn’t been much news about it since then.
I have to admit, I’m not the biggest “Super Mario Bros.” fan, but I always find it fascinating when old movies get new life in the form of extended editions or director’s cuts. It’s a chance to see the movie in a new light and appreciate the work that went into making it.
Overall, I think this news is significant because it shows that even movies that didn’t do well at the box office can have new life and appeal to audiences years after their initial release. Who knows, maybe this extended version will make “Super Mario Bros.” a cult classic!
