Pilar Cuevas, consejera RN: “Si es necesario reponer cada una de las libertades que no pudieron quedar consagradas en el anteproyecto, créeme que lo vamos a hacer”

Hey there! I was just reading this article about Pilar Cuevas, Consejera RN, and it was super interesting. Basically, she’s saying that if we need to fight to regain any of the freedoms that weren’t included in the initial draft, then we’re going to do it. And I love that kind of fiery determination!

But in case you’re not up to date on the news, the context here is that Chile is currently trying to draft a new constitution to replace the one that was written during the Pinochet dictatorship. And there’s been a lot of debate about what should be included in the new constitution, particularly in terms of social and cultural issues like LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, and indigenous rights.

So when Pilar Cuevas says that we need to fight for every single liberty that wasn’t included in the initial draft, she’s basically saying that we can’t settle for less than what we deserve. And as someone who’s always been passionate about social justice, that really resonates with me.

Of course, there’s still a long way to go before the new constitution is finalized and approved. But I think it’s important to remember that these kinds of conversations about civil liberties and human rights are what make democracy work. And it’s important for us to stay informed and stay engaged, so that we can make our voices heard and help shape the future of our country.
