So, I came across this super interesting article about the star of the hit Netflix show “Never Have I Ever,” Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who was shocked to learn that Pedro Pascal, who plays her mom’s love interest, is actually Chilean!
Basically, during an interview, Maitreyi was asked if Pedro’s accent ever slipped while they were filming because he’s originally from Chile, and she had no idea he wasn’t American! She was totally surprised and impressed that he was such a talented actor, and said she never would have guessed he wasn’t from the States.
I thought this was such a funny and relatable moment - it’s always surprising when we learn something unexpected about someone we thought we knew well.
But more importantly, this article sheds light on the power of representation in media. It’s so important to see actors from different backgrounds and cultures on our screens, and it’s even better when they can authentically portray characters from different places. It opens up our minds to new perspectives and experiences, and helps us to empathize with people who may seem different from us on the surface.
Overall, this article is a great reminder that diversity is crucial in all aspects of our lives - especially in the entertainment industry.
