So, I came across this article about RN y Republicanos asking the Chilean Government to classify illegal entry as a crime. It’s really something to think about, especially given the current political climate around immigration.
Basically, these political parties are calling for a stricter stance on migration, urging that the government makes illegal entry a crime. They argue that it would deter illegal immigration and help reduce any negative effects it has on the country.
To be honest, I can see where they’re coming from, but at the same time, I’m not sure if criminalizing something like this is the best solution. As someone who has had loved ones struggle with immigration and faced many barriers in their journey to come to this country legally, it’s a complicated issue that involves much more than simply punishing those who enter illegally.
Nonetheless, I do think it’s important to stay informed about these kinds of policies and how they could potentially impact our communities. Who knows what other changes could emerge in the future as immigration continues to be a hot topic worldwide.
So, what do you think about this proposal? Do you feel like it’s a step in the right direction or do you have concerns about how it could potentially harm those seeking to migrate into the country? Let me know your thoughts!
