Un senador republicano dice que "el calentamiento global es beneficioso a no ser que vivas en África"

So, I stumbled upon this wild article titled “Un senador republicano dice que ‘el calentamiento global es beneficioso a no ser que vivas en África’” and it blew my mind. Basically, a Republican Senator said that climate change is actually a good thing, unless you live in Africa. Yeah, no joke.

This guy, Ron Johnson, claimed that climate change is beneficial because it’s making colder countries warmer, and that warmer weather equals more agricultural opportunities and longer growing seasons for crops. Um, excuse me sir, have you heard of wildfires, hurricanes, and droughts destroying crops and homes? Not to mention sea levels rising and displacing entire communities. It’s a whole mess.

What’s also crazy is that he specifically singled out Africa as a negative consequence of climate change. He implied that the continent is already too hot and dry, and that even more severe weather conditions will only make things worse for them. As if the people of Africa aren’t already facing enough challenges and injustices, now they have to deal with this nonsense.

It’s ridiculous how some people refuse to see the devastating impact that climate change is having on our world. As someone who lives in a coastal city, I’ve seen firsthand the effects of rising sea levels and flooding. It’s not just about temperature change, it’s about the overall health of our planet and how it affects all living beings.

Overall, it’s important to recognize the harmful effects of climate change and take action to mitigate them. We can’t afford to deny the reality of the situation or ignore the most vulnerable populations that are being impacted the most. Let’s do better, people. Our planet deserves it.
