In Chile, the same treatment would have cost him almost $500. The guy was so moved by the experience that he shared his story on social media, emphasizing that he believes healthcare is a human right.
I found this story really interesting because it highlights how different countries have very different approaches to healthcare. In the US, for example, we often think of healthcare as something you pay out the nose for, while in other countries it’s seen as a basic human right. Personally, I have experience with both systems - I grew up in Canada, where healthcare is free, but now I live in the US and have to pay for insurance out of my own pocket. From my own experience, I definitely appreciate the peace of mind that comes with knowing you can see a doctor even if you don’t have money to spare!
